English
Non chronological report: children will be writing a report about their class tree that they will research during ‘Tree Week’. The reports will include headings, sub-headings bullet points and labelled diagrams. Persuasive writing: children will be writing a manifesto for the school council elections. The manifesto will include comparatives, superlatives, repetition, rhetorical questions, emotive language and exaggeration.Poetry: children will be looking at a Haiku, Limerick, Ode, Tanka and a Sonnet. The children will apply the features of these poems to write their own version about the class tree. Diary writing: children will write their own diary from the point of view of an evacuee during WW2. The diary will include emotive language to explain thoughts and feelings
Maths
Number work: solving multi-step problems involving adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing of whole numbers and decimals. Identify the equivalence of fractions, decimals and percentages.
Shape work: recognise and describe 2D and 3D shapes, including making nets. Calculatethe area and perimeter of 2Dshapes.
Data: interpret and construct pie charts and line graphs and use these to solve problems.
Daily Mental Maths work including multiplication and division facts
Science
Plants and animals: children will plan a scientific investigation about tree and plants in our local area. They will make predictions, take measurements, record data and results and present their findings. Children will classify, into groups, similarities and differences of plants and animals.
Electrical circuits: children will identify different components within a circuit. They will construct and electrical circuit and will use the correct symbols when representing the circuit in a diagram.

Shelters: children will design and build their own version of an Anderson shelter. Children will use wood, a range of tools and equipment and use an electrical circuit to construct their
Art
Propaganda posters: children will explore the reasons and hidden messages within the propaganda posters used during WW2. Children will design and produce their own version of the propaganda posters using a range of materials
History
World War 2: children will explore and identify the chronology of the events during WW2. They will explore the different jobs,evacuees, The Blitz and rationing.
